EARTH WEEK 2008
April 21-26
Earth Week 2008 is sponsored by the University of Idaho Sustainability Center, Earth Week Planning Commission, and the UI Environmental Club.
An opening ceremony and parade will begin at 9:30am on Monday morning, departing from the Student Union Building and winding its way up to the UI Commons. Monday’s events will focus on Alternative Transportation.
Themes for the rest of the week include Tuesday: Campus Day (Preserve the Palouse!), Wednesday: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Thursday: Energy & Green Design, and Friday: Food Systems and Social Justice. Each day includes a variety of workshops and events sponsored by organizations from across the campus and community.
The week will culminate in a concert on the Theophilus Tower Lawn from 3 until 10pm on Saturday, April 26. This free outdoor concert will feature the music of singer-songwriter Tracy Lyons as well as two student bands, Dolphin Revolution, and Sole Serene. Saturday’s events will also include a barbeque, fire dancing performance by UI student Melissa Obenchain, and a celebration with the organizers of the Village Bicycle Project.
